Are you interested in making videos for our students or colleagues? Great news! American River College now has a site license for all employees for Camtasia video creation and editing software and Snagit screen capture and recording software, both from TechSmith. The license is available to all ARC faculty and staff (not students) for use on Windows and Mac computers.

Camtasia and Snagit Download & Installation Guide

This guide provides instructions for downloading, installing, and accessing support for Camtasia and Snagit software.

  1. Requesting and Downloading Camtasia and Snagit:
  • Access the Request Form:
    • Log in to your Los Rios Google Drive using your ARC email address.
    • Access the ARC Camtasia and Snagit Request Form.
    • Troubleshooting: If you encounter access issues, ensure your LRCCD Google account is the only active Google account in your browser. You may need to sign out of other accounts or use a different browser.
  • Obtain Download Links and License Keys:
    • The download links and license keys will be displayed on the final page of the request form. Important: Copy these details immediately.
    • You will also receive an email containing the download links and license keys.
  1. Installing Camtasia:
  • TechSmith Account Creation:
    • During the Camtasia installation process, you will be prompted to create a TechSmith account (TechSmith is the creator of Camtasia).
    • Use your ARC email address and create a new, unique TechSmith password.
    • Creating an account allows you to receive updates and access free Camtasia assets.
  • ARC-Issued Computers:
    • If you are using an ARC-issued computer, you may need to contact the ARC IT Department through Service Central for assistance with software installation.
    • The IT Department will handle the software download. You will still need your personal TechSmith username and password to complete the installation.
  1. IT Support and Troubleshooting:
  • Service Central:
    • For all IT-related issues or requests, including installation problems, please use Service Central: https://losrios.edu/servicecentral.
    • Service Central allows you to submit and track your support requests.
    • The Service Central Resource page provides helpful information, including a 2-minute overview video and quick reference guides.
  • Service Central Login Issues:
    • If you are unable to log in to Service Central, please leave a voicemail for the ARC IT Department at 916-484-8259.
