The practice of scaffolding is not new to education and is likely something that you do in your classes already. Universal design makes the practice of scaffolding  purposeful and intentional by actively looking for unknown or unanticipated barriers in your course and assignments, and connecting students to resources that can support them in a way that is simple and intuitive. In this session we will explore unknown or unanticipated barriers that students may face by reviewing one of our own assignments. When students are supported they feel more connected; when students are connected they feel more motivated; and when students are motivated they are more likely to achieve their own learning goals and feel like expert learners! Join me for an interactive session and learn how you can put universal design through scaffolding into one of your class assignments!
