Welcome to the Club!

Panda holding a sign that says meeting today.

Are you the sponsor of an ARC Student Club that would like a home in Canvas? You can use a Club site to communicate with members through email and discussions, share documents and images, post announcements, maintain the club membership, and more.

Some clubs have imported their information from their D2L site (the process is the same as exporting and importing an actual class) while others have used the new Canvas shell as an opportunity to redesign their Club site.

Once the Club shell has been created, the sponsor has permissions to easily add members through the People list. Users can be added with their w-id numbers, either pasted in as a list or added individually.

The ITC staff would be happy to create a Canvas Club for you. If you would like assistance with the export/import process, the ITC staff is available to help during drop-in labs, or we can set up an individual appointment.

Please contact us at ITCtraining@arc.losrios.edu with your requests.

Canvas External Tools now available!

Are you looking for external tools to support your Canvas teaching and learning environment? These tools have already been evaluated by the district to ensure they meet the FERPA and Accessibility requirements for our students and are ready for you to integrate into your class: Cengage, iClicker, Macmillan Learning, McGraw-Hill Connect, McGraw-Hill SimNet, MyLab and Mastering, and Soomo Webtext. If you have adopted any of these resources, the link can be added to your Canvas course from your Course Navigation Menu > Settings > Navigation.
If there is another tool you would like to use that is not on the list, you can apply directly to district to have the tool screened and tested for compatibility, accessibility, security, FERPA compliance, affordability, compliance with Board Policy, and other requirements. This Requesting External Apps or LTIs for Canvas webpage includes the instructions and a link to the Canvas External Apps or LTI Application Request Form. This application requires information from the instructors who are making the request as well as information about the vendor that you may need your vendor representative to supply. The ITC will be happy to support you in this process. Please contact us at ITCTraining@arc.losrios.edu if you have any questions.
